When I wrote my first entry for this blog, it was almost three years ago. We were living with my sister-in-law and her family out of necessity. My husband had resigned from his previous position and was unable to find another one before our money, well before it was gone. So, began the journey of finding and developing Faith Cottage. Since the post, we have moved from Tennessee, to Illinois. While here we have moved twice. Our first place was temporary housing, then into another rental until we could find something we could handle. And could handle us.
Faith Cottage is not the gem of the block or the town. We live on a busy road, but it is a beautiful road. One like those that I have seen in shelter magazines and drooled. Wondering if I could ever live on a street like that, now I get to. There are streets with trees shading the road in the summer, decorating in the fall, and in the winter when they are covered with snow and ice, the scene is breath taking. In fact, in the morning, I sit on my couch with my cup of coffee and enjoy the view. Now, if I look out the other window, I get to see farm implements, tractors, semi-trucks, school buses, and cars buzzing by. I actually don't mind seeing any of it. This home, is a blessing. One that took faith, to believe that some where, at some time, the Lord would have a place for us to call home.
She needs a lot of work and updating! I have several before photos, and a few of the remodeling we have done thus far. Our plan, Lord willing is to do all of the work ourselves and debt free.
I began writing here so that our families and friends could keep up with our renovations. (Marcella, the girls actually talked me into painting their room pink! Go figure!) Along the way I hope to show how we worked through the DIY stuff, laughing, coughing, and gagging along the way. Praying for wisdom in decisions and finances to make it into a home that we can share with others and bring glory to God.
